Posted by  in Wednesday, July 23rd 2008   under: Uncategorized

I will most likely be doing this race, Anyone else interested?

Course: May change at last minute, but will be same times and distances, and just as hilly. Currently: It is a 10.5 mile loop , not going anywhere near Laguna Seca. The roads are: Watkins Gate, Gigling, 8th, Parker Flats, Eucalyptus to west out and back to east, and Hennekens Ranch back to Watkins Gate. Start on Gigling near the multi story old Hospital building (currently D.O.D. bldg) The course does not include the Wall on Barloy Canyon. Eucalyptus west of Parker Flats is being used in both directions, one lane each separated by yellow line.

Cat 5 race is 4 laps, just over 40 miles.

Tour de Max - Sunday, August 10, 2008

Posted by  in Thursday, June 26th 2008   under: Uncategorized

It is time once again to sign up for the Tour de Max. For those of you who don’t know about this ride, it is a benefit for the Lance Armstrong Foundation, and is organized by Tom Yonker in memory of his wife Max Yonker who passed away in May of 2005 after a long struggle with cancer. Proceeds from the event will go to LAF and local cancer charities.

The details: This is an incredibly scenic ride that starts and ends in Menlo Park (there may be a new starting location this year). There is a metric century (67 miles) that goes over Page Mill Rd. out to Pescadero and then climbs back up Tunitas Creek Rd. If you like climbing through the redwoods, this is the course for you. There is also a 40 mile short course for those of you who do not want to commit to lots of climbing. Afterward, there is a raffle with tons of cool prizes and an all you can eat BBQ. Tyler and Jonathan surely remember my baked bean eating prowess last year.

For more info., check out the website at www.tourdemax.org This ride is low key, safe, and is an excellent opportunity to get the team out there for a fun training ride. I’m going to sign up for sure.

Mt. Diablo Hill Climb Race Report

Posted by admin in Wednesday, June 25th 2008   under: Race Reports

As you may know, the Mt. Diablo Hill Climb Time Trial was last weekend. While I was a little off the mark from last year, it was a great day to get out and ride the 10K uphill course. For those of you who don’t know, riders start in 30 second intervals from the start house located at the north gate of Mt. Diablo. The staging and set up area is at Northgate High School about two miles away. The course ends at the ranger station about half way up the mountain. There were some incredibly talented athletes out there ripping up that course. This is definitely an event to put on your calendar for next year.
